Engineered bamboo boards,
made where it grows

Eastern Ghats Bamboo manufactures laminated bamboo boards for interiors, furniture and joinery. We work directly with growers in Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha and process every culm at our own plant near Visakhapatnam.

What we do

Boards for

One process from standing culm to finished board, under one roof and one quality system.

Step 1

Culms are bought by the tonne from our partner growers and licensed collectors. Every lot carries origin and transit documents, so the chain of custody is clear from the hillside to the board.

Grade

Grade

Step 2

Each culm is checked for age, diameter, wall thickness, straightness and moisture, then treated against borers and fungus and kiln dried before it reaches the line. Grades are recorded against the lot.

Make

Step 3

Culms are split into strips, planed to a uniform section, glued and hot pressed into solid boards, then sanded and cut to size. Standard sheets and custom dimensions for cabinetry, panelling, worktops and furniture.

Products

One raw material, three product lines. Nothing from the culm goes to waste.

Why bamboo boards

A hardwood alternative that is grown like a crop. How laminated bamboo compares with teak and plywood, and why it is the responsible choice.

Renewable

Harvested, never felled

Teak is felled once, after 25 to 60 years. Bamboo regrows from the same clump and is ready again in three to four years, with the roots left in the ground.

Performance

Harder than teak

Laminated bamboo tests at about 1,300 to 1,400 Janka, above teak and red oak. Solid through its full thickness, so edges stay exposed and surfaces can be refinished.

Responsible

Stored carbon, local supply

Half the dry weight of bamboo is carbon, locked in the board for life. Grown and made in one region, it displaces imported timber and pays hill farmers every year.
